Co Rd 328 to Boonslick State ParkGravel route from Co Rd 319 to MO-187, Franklin, Howard County, Missouri "This short segment connects to Boone's Lick State Historic Site. This is the place Daniel Boone's sons Nathan and Daniel Morgan established and ran a salt processing operation 1802-1833. To reach the salt spring, the followed an established Native American path from St Louis to the salt spring. This soon became known as Boone's Lick Road and served as a major highway to westward expansion across Missouri and the west. Portions of the salt works, excavations, and other artifacts can be seen at the State Historic Site, along with interpretive displays, restrooms, and a picnic shelter. A short hike (3/8 mile) leads to the site of the salt works. The road is all gravel until the entrance to the State Historic Site, which is a short paved section." |
